Zenko Drums from Metal Sounds

The Zenko, a stainless steel melodic percussion instrument, is a type of tongue drum (also called a “tank” drum or “hank” drum).

The tongue drum, originally built from propane gas tanks, was improved on by Metal Sounds designer Elie Dacenko. Elie collaborated with scientists and experts in the metal industry field. They studied the raw materials, the blade cutting, assembly, and finish, and the result of their efforts is this exquisite instrument.

When one plays the Zenko it spreads sound in smooth, soft waves. Its high harmonics content is the result of perfect tuning that remains stable over the years. Play it by hand or use the sticks.

Question: How do I chose a matching zenko drum for my Equinox?
Answer:

1) Compatibility: the idea is to have two compatible scales that could be played by two different players for a jam.
The best thing to do in this case is to have the same scale (ex: Equinox+Equinox)
or a scale that shares a lot of notes with the Equinox: Ionian, Penta C, Solstice.

2) Complementarity: the idea is to have an additional scale, with different notes from the Equinox, in order to play alone on 2 Zenko. The best choice is the Combo.
