How the MonChair by feeltone plays well with other instruments in C#

March's Monochrd Monday Meetup was facilitated on the Spring Equinox by longtime friend of WE PLAY WELL TOGETHER  Susan Maule who offered us a demonstration of how she uses the MonChair (feeltone's Monochord chair) together with other instruments tuned in harmony including a C# Hokema Sansula, Crystal Singing bowls and Native American-style flute.

She shared with us how she uses the MonChair in a group setting: inviting one participant at a time to sit in the chair while she strums the monochord on the back, while the others circle around the chair listening to the sounds. Each person has a few minutes in the chair and then they rotate in a kind of circular ceremony. While playing the MonChair, Susan also plays instrument tuned together in harmony with the MonChair in C# including the Zaphir "Sunray" Chime in C#, and a specially tuned C# Sansula along with select crystal singing bowls and flutes. This creates a beautiful sound layering for the listeners as they receive the sounds within and around the chair.

This is another wonderful example of "We Play Well Together" in action. And did you know you can request custom tunings on our kalimbas and Sansulas to play well together with the instruments you already own? Reach out for a consult!

You can watch the video recording of Susan's presentation along with over 60 other videos in our growing "Monochord Monday Meetup" video library when you sign up for free to join our Monochord Monday Group on Zoom.
